Quest Diagnostics is headquartered in Madison, New Jersey, and has been in business for more than 50 years. They are an American clinical laboratory that works with hospitals and clinics in many different parts of the world. They are also named on the Fortune 500 list. Quest Diagnostics began in 1967 as the Metropolitan Pathology Laboratory Incorporated. It was founded by a doctor named Paul Brown as a clinical laboratory. After a number of name changes, the name became MetPath Incorporated in 1969 with some of the subsequent names including Corning Glassworks, Corning Clinical Laboratories, and eventually Quest Diagnostics. The current chairman, president and Chief Executive Officer is Steve Rusckowski. The company currently provides medical testing, clinical chemistry, and molecular diagnostics. They have become one of the best-known names in the field during the past three decades after a spinoff from Corning on December 31, 1996.

This company has undergone several mergers and acquisitions, and although they do have clients all over the world, almost their entire customer base is located within North America. They are a publicly traded company that reports their financial information and as of 2017, they reported $7.83 billion in revenue with a total of $57.37 revenue per share. They also showed positive quarterly revenue growth at three percent and positive quarterly earnings growth at 13.5 percent. Their gross profit was estimated to be $3.04 billion.
