About Menlo Ventures

Menlo Ventures is a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California. The company was founded by H. DuBose Montgomery in 1976. The firm currently employs 19 people, with most employees being contributing members of the investment team. As of 2018, Menlo has been focused on investing within two funds: Menlo Ventures XIV, a fund with $450 million USD in capital, as well as the $250 million USD Menlo Special Opportunity Fund.

H. DuBose Montgomery started Menlo Ventures when he was 27 years old, after earning a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from Harvard. Since then, Menlo has invested in over 400 companies and currently has over $5 billion USD in assets under management. Companies that Menlo has invested in include Uber, Roku, Siri, Getaround and Warby Parker.

Menlo focuses its investments on companies in the consumer, enterprise and life science technology verticals. The company takes on active role in the development of their portfolio companies, often starting their investments in seed or early stages. As of 2018, Menlo portfolio companies had over $3 billion USD in aggregate revenue.
