About Glico PR Japan
The Ezaki Glico Corporation, which owns Pocky, is a division of a popular Japanese food company that is based in Nishiyodogawa-ku, Osaka. Most of their business comes from the manufacturer of snack foods such as ice cream, dairy products, and more, but they also provide baking items like chocolate chips, chewing gum, and stock products for cooking. The main company behind the financing for this organization was the Sanwa Bank which is now known as the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. As of March 2016, they had over 4900 employees. Employment opportunities include position such as information technology, programming, mathematics, architecture, CG animators, web designers, artists, graphic designers, and editors just to name a few.
This company began in 1919 when Riichi Ezaki invented a caramel candy product that was named Glico. The product contained glycogen that was extracted from the oyster and was marketed as a major energy supplement as well as a piece of candy. The company was established later on as Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd., with factories in Tokyo and Osaka, both of which had to be rebuilt in the 1950s after World War II. Today, Glico has a variety of products including pretzel sticks, almond chocolate, chocolate coated pretzel sticks, crushed almond flavor products, caramel flavor products, custard fondue, wheat germ crackers with yogurt cream, frosting dipped waffle biscuits, pudding, and much more.
The United States division of this company is just one of many divisions, as they are available around the world and started in Osaka. International expansion began as early as 1932, but actually took off in the early 1970s after the business had recovered from World War II. There have been many holding companies and divisions since then. Ezaki Glico is estimated to have $3 billion in revenue.
