Carnival Cruise Line is an international cruise line company with headquarters in Doral, Florida. They are the largest cruise line in the world based upon the amount of passages that they carry every year as well as revenue and total number of ships. They are a wholly-owned subsidiary that is well-known for tourism, travel and entertainment, and as of the last count they had approximately 3900 employees on the shore and 33,500 employees aboard their ships. Carnival Cruise Lines was founded in 1972 by Ted Arison. He found an investor who owned an American travel service and they set up the new company is a subsidiary of that travel service. The American International Travel Service, or AITS, was the company that finance this operation and marketed Carnival Cruise Lines. However, due to regulatory concerns, the structure of the company shifted. At the time, the only had one ship called the Mardi Gras. They acquired another ship in 1975 called the Carnivale. As they grew, the company was renamed, and in 2004, Carnival Corporation ordered the development of new ships. Most recently, in February 2018, the company unveiled a major port development project in Mexico.

The company now has a number of ships including the Carnival Horizon which calls Miami, Florida its home port, the Carnival Vista in Galveston, Texas, the Carnival Breeze in Port Canaveral, Florida, the Carnival Dream in New Orleans, Louisiana and more than a dozen other cruise ships. They also have a number of future ships planned. In 2011, they reported $10.9 billion in revenue.
