About Boeing

Boeing is an American multinational corporation that designs and manufactures aircraft, rotorcraft, rockets, missiles, and satellites. They also provide support services for those products. Their corporate headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois. As of January 1, 2018, Boeing employed 141,322 people in all of their divisions which included Boeing defense, space and security, Boeing commercial airplanes, Boeing capital engineering, Boeing shared services and operations and technology. The original Boeing company was founded by William Boeing on July 15, 1960. The current company comes from a merger between the original Boeing Company and McDonnell Douglas that happened on August 1, 1997. Harry Stonecipher became the new chief executive officer of the newly merged company. The products offered by Boeing include the 737, 747, 767, 777, and 787 airplanes, as well as the Super Hornet, the 702 satellite family, the 748 commercial aircraft, and a variety of other satellites and missiles as well as military aircraft. Their services include support solutions and leasing. Boeing was in the news for announcing a hypersonic transportation project in June 2018. In addition, Boeing also announced a $2.4 billion deal with the Pentagon in September 2018 to provide helicopters for nuclear missile bases.

Boeing is an international company, but almost all of their operations are within the United States. The largest number of employees is in Washington with 75,686 followed closely by California where 14,864 people are employed. Boeing is a publicly traded company reported $96 billion in revenue during the 2017 fiscal year with revenue per share of $162.11. Their quarterly revenue growth was 5.2 percent.
