About Patagonia

Patagonia is a clothing company in the United States that sells outdoor clothing. It has been around since the early 1970s with headquarters in Ventura, California. The company fell into bankruptcy in the late eighties but has since recovered, selling climbing gear, outdoor equipment, and lots of other lucrative items. One of the reasons that many people choose to get their outdoor equipment from this supplier is that all of their products are sustainable. As of 2017, they had over 1500 employees. Employment opportunities are usually in-store positions and may include things like sales clerks, re-stockers, buyers, store managers and assistant store managers, in-store accounting, and more. There may also be some corporate positions available.

The company was actually started in 1957 by a rock climber named Yvon Chouinard. He started creating his own climbing equipment and sold it himself until 1965, when he partnered with a man named Tom Frost in order to market his products better. The first store was finally opened in 1973 as the Great Pacific Ironworks Company. Another store opened in Ventura, California, and the name changed again in 1984. Most recently, this division was rebranded as Patagonia. Their primary product now is outdoor apparel.
