Olive Garden is an American restaurant chain that serves Italian-American cuisine. The parent company is called Darden Restaurants Incorporated. The headquarters are located in Orange County, Florida. Olive Garden has over 35,000 employees including those positions within the restaurants and corporate positions, and some of the employment opportunities include servers, restaurant managers and assistant managers, bussers, cooks and prep cooks, finance experts, and more.
The Olive Garden started as a division of General Mills Incorporated. The first restaurant opened on December 13, 1982, in Orlando, Florida. However, the restaurant grew rapidly and just a few years later, there were nearly 150 Olive Garden restaurants which made it the fastest growing restaurants within General Mills. Olive Garden eventually became the largest Italian-themed restaurant in the United States. Olive Garden separated from General Mills in 1995, and was placed under the banner of Darden Restaurants. Olive Garden offers Italian cuisine such as pasta, salads, chicken, seafood and breadsticks.
The restaurant chain has locations all across the United States and some other parts of the world as well. In 2013, there were 891 restaurants located around the world. Six Olive Garden restaurants are located in Canada including Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, and Langley. There were two restaurants in Mexico City in 2012, but that number has since doubled. There is an Olive Garden in Kuwait, one in Brazil, and other locations include Ecuador, Guadalajara, Mexico, and Cancun, Mexico. It is estimated that $3.8 billion of the $6.9 billion revenue of Darden Restaurants Incorporated is directly from the Olive Garden.
