Hanesbrands is an American clothing company that recently spun off from the Sara Lee Corporation. They have their headquarters in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and have several well-known brands under their banner including Sheer Energy, Silk Reflections, Tankless, Celebrity, Champion, Wonderbra, Playtex, Hanes, Just My Size and Barely There. The history of Hanes Brands goes back a long way. They were founded in 1901 and have since become the worlds largest marketer of basic apparel. That includes underwear, socks, T-shirts, sweatshirts, bras, panties, hosiery and more. The company opened its flagship store in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2008. It is the largest store out of all of the Hanes brand stores. Most recently, Hanes announced a $60 million acquisition of Alternative Apparel and prior to that they acquired the Australian clothing company Pacific Brands.
The company has around 300 retail outlets as of 2015 and has locations all over the world. They have around 250 factory outlets, a single flagship store, 20 Champion outlet stores as well as a variety of warehouses and distribution centers. Most of these are in the United States, but they also have companies in parts of Europe particularly Eastern Europe, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. In 2016, they reported their revenue to be $5.7 billion in reported operating income of $595.1 million. They also had a net income of $428.8 million and their total assets were valued at $5.6 billion.
