Citi or Citigroup is an investment bank and financial services company located in the United States with its headquarters in New York City. They are the third largest bank in the United States, joining a list that includes J.P. Morgan Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo, collectively known as the "big four". Citi employee over 209,000 people, most of whom are located within the United States. Before the 2008 financial crisis, Citi employed 357,000 people. Positions include investment managers, commercial bank representatives, customer service representatives, bank tellers, loan officers, account representatives, security, IT, and cyber security positions, as well as corporate leadership.
Citigroup formed on October 8, 1998, after the $140 billion merger of Citicorp and Travelers Group, which created the world's largest financial services organization at the time.
